This years’ focus theme was “Growth and Synthesis of Functional Nanoscale Materials”. The immediate aim of the workshop was to expose and improve the knowledge and understanding of participants in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology applications. With the help of series of seminars and hands-on laboratory sessions, participants were trained on the fundamentals of top-down and bottom-up nanoscale materials growth and synthesis, cleanroom-based micro/nano-scale device fabrication process design and optimization; project and process specific equipment training throughout the the program.
These series of programmes are a collaborative initiative of UNIDO and Bilkent University-UNAM, and is supported by the Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology and Turkish International Cooperation & Coordination Agency (TIKA).
The workshop is organized at Bilkent University-UNAM Ankara- Turkey, the national center of excellence in nanotechnology, with the attending of 40 participants: 30 of them are from developing countries and transition economies selected by TIKA and UNIDO collaboratively, and 10 of them are selected from the host country, Turkey.
In the first week of the workshop, from 15 June 2015 to 21 June 2015, there were lectures and seminars on “Growth and Synthesis of Functional Nanoscale Materials” at UNAM Conference Room by the speakers and lecturers from several universites, UNAM, UNIDO and TIKA. In the second week of the workshop, from 22 June 2015 to 27 June 2015, hands-on laboratory practices took place at UNAM Laboratories & Vendor Workshop.
