Clean Technologies Entrepreneurship Accelerator, GCIP in its 3rd year

cipUNIDO (the United Nations Industrial Development Organization), GEF (Global Environment Facility), and TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) are implementing the GCIP (Global Cleantech Innovation Programme) for SMEs in the trust of Minister of Science, Industry and Technology  of in Turkey  to promote clean technology innovation and supporting SMEs and start-ups working on solutions related to energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste to energy, water efficiency and green buildings.

The programme combines a competition and a business accelerator to offer participants progressing through the programme extensive Mentoring, Training, Access to Investors and opportunities to showcase their innovations to the media and the public. Participants stand a chance to win a cash award and national business support awards, in addition to a trip to Silicon Valley, CA, to participate in the Cleantech Open Global Forum.

GCIP 2016 Applications ve Participant Profile

All entries must fit the definition of one of the Competition’s five clean technology and innovation categories and respective classification criteria. Additional to established SME companies, graduate level students, academician, researchers and serial entrepreneurs can also apply for GCIP.

While to establish a team composed of minimum two person is another criteria,  at least one team member must be a Turkish resident, citizen, or legal alien (proof needs to be provided) as eligibility. Alumni’s of previous year competitions can also be apply to programme 2016 cycle if didn’t win one of the cash awards at the previous years.   

Applications can be done over web site electronically between 21st of March to 20th of May 2016 for applicants.

While National Winner team will be awarded with 50K TRY, Best Runner up team will win 25K TRY as cash. Both National Winner and Best Runner Up team will have been travelled to San Francisco to participate to Global Forum not only represent the Turkey but also meet with global investors, private sector representatives and to find a chance work together with international mentors.

Moreover, the third and fourth best runner up teams will win 25K cash award independent from their application category and they will have been offered to participate and take active roles at Global forum similar to first and second rank owners but with their own financial resources.
