The World Health Organization Country (WHO) Office in Turkey is pleased to inform that Dr Pavel Ursu has been appointed as World Health Organization (WHO) Representative and Head of Country Office in Turkey and started his new role on 14 May 2015.
Dr Ursu joined WHO in 2001 first as Project Officer, and since 2003 he was the WHO Head of Country Office in the Republic of Moldova.
He has completed his Medical Degree as Physician of General Practice in 1995 at the Moldova State Medical University, and emergency medicine residence programme in 1998. He holds a MPH degree of the School of Public Health, Moldova State Medical University as well as a Postgraduate Diploma and Master of Science degree in Public Health, from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, United Kingdom.
Before joining WHO, Dr Ursu combined his clinical work at the Chisinau City Emergency Hospital with activity as a Project Manager of the Emergency Medical Services capacity strengthening project. He was later employed at the Ministry of Health as senior adviser and consequently Head of the International Relations Office.
He worked as Head of WHO Country Office in Moldova since 2003 till 2010.
Since August 2010 until May 2015, Dr Ursu served as WHO Representative/Head of WHO Country Office in Tajikistan.
