ILO’s “WORLD of WORK REPORT 2014” published with the focus on “developing with jobs”

reportcoverThis Year’s World of Work Report 2014: Developing with jobs argues creation of quality jobs are the main driver the economic development.   The report provides evidence that the common feature amongst the counties that achieved higher per capita income and sustained growth was their success in creating decent quality jobs.

The report is based on the study including detailed explanation of trends and policy innovations in over 140 countries.  It puts forward clearly that decreasing of the vulnerable employment and working poverty can be achieved through creation of quality jobs leading to sustained economic growth.

The report also argues that around 200 million new jobs are needed over the next five years to keep pace with the growing working-age population in emerging and developing countries and underlines creation of decent work should be a central goal in the post-2015 development agenda.
