IOM Continues to Deliver Trainings on “Mixed Migration and Protection of Vulnerable Migrants”

iomIn the framework of “Implementation of the Strategy Document and National Action Plan on Irregular Migration with a Focus on Mixed Migration Flows” project that is being implemented in cooperation with the Turkish Coast Guard (TCG) and Directorate General of Migration Management (DGMM), IOM organized three 3-day trainings on “Mixed Migration and Protection of Vulnerable Migrants” in Çanakkale, Mersin and İzmir.

The trainings that will also continue in 2016 aim to enhance the capacity of respective institutions to better respond to mixed migration flows and to address the protection needs of vulnerable migrants. Up to now, 101 trainers enhanced their knowledge in normative framework regarding to international migration and migration at sea, human rights, migrant smuggling and human trafficking crimes, asylum-migration nexus, risk assessment, pre-screening and protection of vulnerable migrants.  IOM experts, academics, presenters from TCG and DGMM and UNHCR contributed to the training program.   The trainings also created a platform to discuss the emerging issues and needs among participating stakeholders.
