The premiere launches of the documentary entitled “Pikolo-Growing for a Better Future” was held in Ordu and İstanbul. The Documentary has been prepared within the framework of the project on the elimination of worst forms of child labour in seasonal agriculture in hazelnut harvesting in Ordu which is being jointly implemented by International Labour Organization (ILO) Turkey Office and the General Directorate of Labour of Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
Ordu premiere was held on November 29, 2013 in Ordu Cinevizyon Cinema Hall and the participants were among representatives of public institutions and organizations, employers ‘and workers’ organizations, media, civil society organizations and universities. On December 10, 2013 the Documentary was presented in Feriye Cinema Hall in İstanbul for culture, arts, universities and media representatives.
The primary purpose of the documentary is to contribute awareness raising against child labour in seasonal agriculture both at national and local levels and to be used as a training tool in combating child labour. The Documentary focus to address reasons and solutions of child labour in seasonal agriculture through interviews that were made in Ordu during 2013 hazelnut harvesting season with the public and local governments representatives, seasonal workers, their families and children, garden owners, agricultural intermediaries, educators and local people.
