Project on Regional Cooperation on Border Management among Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria

iom-asama1“Regional Cooperation on Border Management Among Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria Phase 1” Project targeting to support Turkey’s border management efforts in line with the EU Acquis and good practices via enhancing the cross border cooperation with Greece and Bulgaria at central and local levels is continuing through the cooperation between IOM and Ministry of Interior General Directorate of Provincial Administration, Department of Border Management, the main beneficiary of the project.

On April 13, 2015, the second steering committee meeting was conducted in Ankara; on May 7, a meeting for developing daily contacts between the border staff of all three countries was organized in Kırklareli; on May 13-14, a meeting for assessing the communications channel to be used in borders and of the technological infrastructures of the three countries was held in Edirne; and meeting for discussion on a drafted plan to start using this communication channel properly through Phase 2 was organized on June 11-12 in İstanbul. Additionally Greek, Bulgarian and English language trainings to the related staff from Governorates of Edirne and Kırklareli have been provided under the project.
