Assistant ILO Director-General and Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Heinz Koller visited the ILO Office for Turkey. Koller will, in his visit to Turkey, also meet Ms. Jülide Sarıeroğlu, Turkish Minister of Labour and Social Security.
ANKARA- International Labour Organization (ILO) Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Heinz Koller visited the ILO Office for Turkey. Welcomed by Mr. Numan Özcan, Director of ILO Office for Turkey, Koller held a meeting with the ILO Team in Ankara. Providing information on the work and projects of the Office, Turkey Director Özcan noted that the Office focused particularly on fighting child labour, promoting women’s employment and social dialogue as well as recent projects on refugees. Özcan said: “Right now, seventy five percent of our projects deal with refugees.”
Koller then made a presentation to the team on the ILO’s vision for 2019. Koller said: “We praise Turkey for doing an outstanding job on refugees. The ILO Office for Turkey is highly successful not only in projects for refugees, but also projects in other areas.”
Mr. Maurizio Bussi, Deputy Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, shared the priorities of the European region with the team.
Arriving in Turkey on invitation to attend the “Seventh International Symposium on Social Security” themed migration and social security on 25-26 April 2018 in Ankara organised by ILO, Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MoLSS), Social Security Institution (SSI) and Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Koller will deliver the opening remarks. Koller will also meet Ms. Jülide Sarıeroğlu, Turkish Minister of Labour and Social Security.
On the third day of his visit to Turkey, Koller will visit Gaziantep to review on site ILO’s activities in the region.
