Information Workshop on Kigali Amendment

unido-kigaliA workshop to give information on the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol was organized in Turkey.

The workshop was held for accepting the Kigali Amendment and ensuring the adaptation of national legislation,  within the scope of “Enabling Activities” which is funded by Montreal Protocol and implemented by United Nations Industrial Development Agency (UNIDO).

The workshop provided information on the obligations of Kigali Amendment to Turkey and the objectives of the reduction of fluorinated greenhouse gases with the joint efforts of the institutions.

The Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer entered into force on 1 January 2019, following ratification by 65 countries. The UN Environment Programme (UNEP, or UN Environment) announced the entry into force, and noted that it will help reduce the production and consumption of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), potent greenhouse gases (GHGs), and thus to avoid global warming by up to 0.4°C this century.
