Representatives and staff of the United Nations in Turkey visited Anıtkabir on 24 October for commemorating UN’s 72nd anniversary.

The United Nations representatives and staff led by UN Resident Coordinator Irena Vojáčková-Sollorano first laid a wreath at Atatürk’s mausoleum.

Following, Resident Coordinator Irena Vojáčková-Sollorano signed the visitor’s book at Anıtkabir. She started her message in Turkish addressing Atatürk as the Great Leader (Ulu Önder Atatürk) and continued “The United Nations has supported the people of Turkey since its inception 72 years ago and has been part of Turkey’s success in eradicating extreme poverty and developing a strong economy.”

Sollorano reminded a quote from founder of Republic of Turkey Atatürk in her message and wrote  “To continue this path, we shall remember “Human kind is made up of two sexes, women and men. Is it possible that a mass is improved by the improvement of only one part and the other part is ignored?”

“This applies to all parts of society that shall take part in a thriving Turkey” Sollorano said ending her message.
